Abuela — Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 10, 2026
Abuela is a posture coach that runs entirely on your Mac. This policy is short because the app is built so that there is nothing to disclose.
What Abuela does
Abuela uses your Mac's built-in camera to analyze your sitting posture in real time, using Apple's on-device Vision frameworks. Camera frames are processed in memory and immediately discarded.
What we collect
Nothing.
No video, photos, or audio are ever recorded or stored.
No camera data leaves your Mac. The app contains no networking code — it cannot upload anything, anywhere.
No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs.
What stays on your Mac
Two kinds of small, local records are kept in the app's own preferences storage on your device:
Your calibration baseline — a handful of numbers describing your good sitting pose (angles and proportions; not images).
Posture history — aggregate seconds per day spent sitting upright, drifting, or slouched, used to draw your Day/Week/Month charts. Around two months are retained, then old days are discarded.
Deleting the app deletes these. They are never transmitted.
Camera control
The camera is active only while monitoring is on. Pausing Abuela from the menu bar stops the camera (the camera indicator light turns off). macOS also lets you revoke camera access at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Camera.
Children
Abuela does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL with a new effective date. Given the app's design (no collection, no networking), material changes are not anticipated.
