What do I need to run Abuela?
An Apple Silicon MacBook with a notch, running macOS 14 or later. Abuela lives in the notch and the menu bar — there’s no Dock icon.
How does calibration work?
The first time Abuela sees you sitting well, she captures a 3-second baseline of your good posture — all detection is relative to it. Recalibrate anytime by clicking the notch, or via the menu bar icon → Calibrate Posture. Recalibrate after changing your chair, desk, or screen height.
Does Abuela record me?
No. Everything runs on-device using Apple’s Vision framework. There is no networking code in the app, nothing is recorded or stored, and the camera light is on only while monitoring.
How do I pause monitoring?
Menu bar icon → Pause Monitoring. The camera turns off completely — LED off — until you resume.
Alerts too sensitive, or not sensitive enough?
Menu bar icon → Sensitivity, then pick Low, Medium, or High. Low means fewer nudges; High means stricter coaching. Sounds can be toggled in the same menu.
Is there a subscription?
No. Abuela is unlocked with a single one-time purchase — yours forever, with no recurring charges.
How do I restore my purchase on a new Mac?
Sign in to the Mac App Store with the same Apple Account and choose Restore Purchase inside the app. Purchases carry across all your Macs.
